Benjamin will discuss the current understanding of emotions experienced by human beings. What emotions are, what it means to be aware of them, why this is important, and what we can learn about ourselves, and what we need from being in the right relationship with them.

Topic: "Instant Self-Care"

Mindful micro-resiliency practices are aimed at addressing the symptoms of stress, many of which are evidence-based practices that can be accessed immediately while going about your day. By blending practices from western medicine, yoga, mindfulness and Ayurveda, Nanette Bowen PA-C, Ayurvedic Practitioner, and Yoga Therapist, will introduce the basic tenets of Ayurveda (a holistic health care system practiced throughout the world today) and offer a multitude of mindful practices that can help build emotional intelligence, bolster mood and improve resiliency.

Topic: Holding the Heart - Embraced by the Soul

As infants, we are born with open hearts; innocent, and vulnerable.  We have our own natural, unique personalities, gifts and aspirations. Life’s journey is difficult, however. Children are exposed to small and large traumas, grief and hurt.  In attempts to guard against further injury, we erect defenses against vulnerability and pain.  These become like locked doors to the heart, and we are cut off from our essential selves. Learning to care for our hurting hearts allows us to dismantle defenses that have blocked our connection to our natural Being. As the doors to the heart open, we begin to discover an entire world within.  This workshop will offer an opportunity to honor the path of the heart.  A guided meditation will be shared to assist in formulating a plan of care for the heart in order to open to the healing Love of the Soul.

Topic: Movement, Self-Care & Healing: E-Volution and E-Motion in Action

When we think of movement, most often the image conjured is of a form of exercise--something that is supplemental or extra. However, movement is occurring within our bodies and in relationship to our environment all the time. Therefore, we need to be able to discern the type of movement experiences we choose for ourselves within the context of day to day life. Furthermore, it is important to have a way to evaluate if movement is actually self-care; that is, does it elicit healing? Sandy will lead participants through exploring movement in our everyday lives as well as guide us through movement experiences.

If knowledge is power, then self-knowledge is a super power!  In this fun and enlightening session, Dr. Holly Lucille, ND, RN will turn the modern day acronyms of  “PCP” and “HMO” on their heads and help you realize that you can be your own Primary Care Giver and that your home can be it’s own Health Maintenance Organization!
