2018 Keynote Speaker
Dr. Holly Lucille, ND, RN, is a nationally recognized and licensed naturopathic doctor, educator, natural products consultant, and television and radio host. She is also the author of several books including Creating and Maintaining Balance: A Women’s Guide to Safe, Natural, Hormone Health and The Healing Power of Trauma Comfrey.
An acclaimed expert in the field of integrative medicine, Dr. Lucille lectures throughout the nation on a variety of natural health topics. Her appearances include national media programs and networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Dr. Oz, The Doctors, Lifetime and the Discovery Health Channel.
Dr. Holly is a health blogger for Newsmax online magazine and is on the editorial advisory board of Alternative Medicine, Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine, Advances in Mind -Body Medicine and Natural Practitioner. She is regularly quoted as an expert in both consumer and peer journals, and in 2007, was listed in Time magazine’s “Alt List” as one of the “Top 100 Most Influential People.” In 2012 she launched her own talk show, “Myth-Defying with Dr. Holly” on the Z Living network and is now host of “Mindful Medicine” on RadioMD.
She is currently the chair of the Natural Partners INC. educational advisory board and the vice chair of the Institute for Natural Medicine. As the past president of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association she worked to ensure the availability of safe naturopathic health care by spearheading a lobbying effort to have naturopathic doctors licensed in the state of California. She was awarded the “SCNM Legacy Award” for her “contribution to the advancement and development of the field of naturopathic medicine.”
As a graduate from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ, Dr. Holly received the prestigious Daphne Blayden Award for her “commitment to naturopathic medicine, academic excellence, compassion, perseverance, a loving sense of humor and a positive, supportive outlook.”
Dr. Lucille believes in the science, art and mystery of healing and has a heartfelt passion for the individual wellness of all people. Built on this foundational belief, she uses the magnificence of multiple media platforms to truly make a difference and empower people to heal. Benjamin Reisterer, MA, LPC
Benjamin holds sacred the opportunity to meet and walk with you wherever you may find yourself as you courageously venture through your story. He values the opportunity to collaboratively cultivate hope, insight, healing, and transformation in your life. He strives to create and hold a space where you can safely engage the intersection of your experiences, emotions, mind, and body. Benjamin practices from the conviction that this meaningful work is best supported by an accepting and authentic relationship.
Benjamin is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan. He earned a double major BA in Psychology and Family Studies from Cornerstone University and an MA in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. He is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and also a U.S. Navy SeaBee veteran of OEF Afghanistan. He is also the founder and creator of MetaFi, an Android and iOS app designed to help promote mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and body awareness. Benjamin has extensive experience walking alongside people facing a number of challenges ranging from depression, anxiety, grief and loss, cultivating meaning and purpose, working through life changes, relationship issues, trauma, sexual abuse, sexual identity, and neglect. Benjamin takes a holistic approach to the work of counseling and strives to hold a space where emotions, symptoms, and thoughts can be safely and curiously explored as he believes they hold messages meant to be acknowledged, understood, and integrated.
Holly Perkins, M.D., Psychiatry, Child Psychiatry and Spiritual Direction
Holding the Heart - Embraced by the Soul
Dr. Perkins began her training with a focus on physical health and became a medical physician in 1981. She pursued specialty training in psychiatry, with a sub-specialty in child and adolescent psychiatry. The development of the human personality, the role of relationship in healing and effects of trauma on the mind and body became primary interests to her. She began working in long term psychotherapy with people with anxiety, depression, trauma and loss and has had an active psychotherapy practice for nearly 35 years.
A lifelong learner, Holly has pursued training in many areas, integrating her personal experiences into the ways she works with others. She embraces the work of Carl Jung and has participated in an ongoing study of Psychosynthesis, a psycho-spiritual theory of healing for over 20 years. She trained with Elizabeth Kubler-Ross in the area of death, dying and transition. Dr. Perkins completed training in Art as a Therapuetic technique as well as in Dreamwork and Symbology. She began studying Spiritual Guidance in 2000.
A student of the Sufi path of spirituality for 17 years, Holly is a Healing Conductor, Representative and Retreat Guide of the Inayati Order. She is a graduate of the Suluk Academy and has also served as a mentor and meditation teacher for the Suluk Academy.
Holly has been committed to her own psychotherapy, personal growth and spiritual direction for her entire adult life. She believes that it is essential for each of us to come to grips with our past, and believes that the inner journey holds the key to direction, healing, peace, joy and freedom. Her passion is assisting others in finding inner connection with their own loving guidance and direction. She creates individual and small group psycho-spiritual retreats that support one’s journey toward healing and fulfillment.
Jocelyn Dettloff, Motivational Speaker
Jocelyn Dettloff grew up in Kalamazoo. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English Literature. She spent the next few years after graduation working odd jobs and traveling around the world—Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Sub-Saharan Africa. In 1997 in Namibia, Africa, she acquired a spinal cord injury while sledding down a sand dune. She came to Mary Free Bed for her rehabilitation and has remained in Grand Rapids.
Jocelyn developed a career in fundraising. She is the Annual Fund Director for the for The Mary Free Bed Foundation. She is an avid traveller, enjoys playing tennis, seeking adventure and being an eternal student the lessons life has to teach.
Jocelyn is very involved in her community and is a passionate advocate for people with disabilities. She sits on the board of LTAC Arts, the board of Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, is a committee member for the USTA Midwest Section and vice president for the Grand Rapids Federation of U of M Alumnae. Her memoir, It Rained in the Desert: One woman’s story of spirit and resilience, tells the story of her accident and adjusting to life on wheels.
Nanette Bowen PA-C, Ayurvedic Practitioner, Certified Yoga Therapist, 1000 hour, E-RYT 200, RYT 500
Nanette’s overriding desire is to apply yoga, Ayurveda and 35 years of experience as a medical practitioner toward helping others integrate and balance body, mind, and spirit by blending concepts from the Eastern and Western models of medicine. By applying ancient and modern medical practices, she seeks to guide others toward optimizing their health by following a diet and lifestyle suited to their individual constitutions.
Nanette is also deeply drawn to the use of Pranyama and the philosophy of yoga—bridging the heart and mind through the use of breathing practices—and promoting peace through meditation and the study of ancientteachings.
She is especially drawn to offering micro-resiliency mindfulness practices—designed to enhance cognition, empathy and overall wellbeing—to corporate employees, particularly healthcare staff, physicians, and administrators, as well as at medical conferences. (See https://kripalu.org/cpm )
She also specializes in Yoga as Medicine for individuals and groups.
Nanette is a Physician Assistant-Certified, Certified Yoga Therapist, 1000 hour, E-RYT 200, RYT 500 who has professional level certifications from the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in the following specialties: 500-hour Yoga Instructor; Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMA Professional Member); and Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist. She is also a Lifeforce Yoga® Level 1 Practitioner, and iRest® Yoga Nidra Teacher-In-Training Level II. She has completed training in Healthcare Professional Level Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Mind Body Medicine. She has also completed a 500 hour Acharya (spiritual teacher) program.
Sandy Parker, BS, CPT, Restorative Exercise Specialist, Health and Movement Educator
Owner of On The Path Yoga, Sandy has a Bachelor's of Science degree in Health Education and recently became certified as a Restorative Exercise™ Specialist. (Please see the Restorative Exercise Institute's website for more information on this certification.) This advanced certification adds to her personal training and yoga certifications, which she also currently holds. She has over 25 years of experience as a health educator, teaching everything from Aquatics to Zumba.
Sandy sees yoga as a vital path toward insightfulness and wholistic health. Her yoga classes emphasize finding strength, balance, steadiness and ease in postures through the practice of breath, focus, and alignment. Her favorite understanding about yoga is from the legendary guru, BKS Iyengar, "Alignment is, for me, both a physical and metaphysical word."
Workshops and private sessions of Restorative Exercise™ are other options to study with Sandy. Workshops are offered regularly and cover a wide range of health and disease prevention including such topics as pelvic floor health, aging, balance and proprioception. Private sessions are by appointment and cover alignment, gait analysis, and specific health concerns.
She is married with two adult children. Sandy enjoys exploring with her husband the many beautiful paths of West Michigan and loves to spend time cultivating garden paths at her home where she grows fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers.

Vinyasa Yoga with Amber Kilpatrick, E-RYT® 500, YACEP®
Always a Mama first. Amber is the founder of Mindful Vinyasa School of Yoga™ and the creator of The Mindful Classrooms Project. She is also a founding member of The Body Mind Being Project and has extensive experience in Trauma Sensitive Yoga and Mindfulness. Amber is the lead facilitator for Yoga Teacher Training, Workshops, and Continuing Education offered through MVSY. She can be found in the community teaching at MVP Athletic Club, The Dailey Method, and the Kent County Juvenile Detention Center. Amber is available for private instruction, events, and speaking engagements.
Qigong with Kristin Swann, MS, LAc
Kristin Swann will be leading out attendees in a Qigong exercise on Sunday afternoon. Kristin is a native of the San Francisco Bay area. She began her natural heath career as a massage therapist in San Francisco in 1999, and added acupuncture to her skill set in 2009. While studying acupuncture at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine she learned Qigong from Master Liu He of the Ling Gui International School of Qigong. For the past 11 years, she has continued to practice and teach Qigong. Currently she teaches a weekly class at the Buddhist Temple of Grand Rapids. Kristin is an engaging and heartfelt teacher. Kristin is a member of the American Council on Acupuncture and board member of the Michigan Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is dedicated to teaching self care and promoting a sense of wellness for all.
